The fifth annual Girls Take Flight event at the Oshawa Airport was the biggest and the best Girls Take Flight event ever!

1,000 people attended, including members of the community, politicians, media, pilots, ground volunteers, speakers, and people staffing the exhibitor booths.

221 women and girls went for their first flight in a small airplane!

We could not have put on this event without our many volunteers, exhibitors and sponsors and speakers.

We have received thank you cards, emails and Facebook posts conveying compliments and gratitude. Here is one sample that proves just how important an event this is:

I am writing this email to let you know just how amazing the program you ran today was.

In today's fast paced world people are quick to write when they are upset but rarely spend the time to let people know when they have done something wonderful. Today was just that, wonderful. I brought my 5-year-old daughter and even though she could not fly because of her age she had what she described as the "best day ever!" Everyone from the pilots to the young air cadets treated her like she was the most important person there. They answered her questions, even letting her take multiple trips through planes/booths. You should be very proud of the team you put together. As a woman I was impressed, as a mom I was grateful. Looking at all the young ladies at the event it is nice to see a glimpse of our future. Thank you again. We will see you next year.

Signed, a very grateful parent.

Photos will soon be posted on the website. You can also see some on our Facebook Page.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our sponsers, we are pleased to announce that we will be offering a flight training scholarship and some free flight lessons. Click for details

Professional photographers take pictures during the event. Find your photo in our photo gallery.
